Polo Times and The Polo Magazine Celebrate Excellence

Polo Times and our sister publication The Polo Magazine are proud to be supporting our best players and ponies throughout the English summer season by presenting the Polo Times Best Playing Pony rugs and The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Awards in some of the top tournaments throughout England this year.

In partnership with Guards Polo Club, The Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club, The British Beach Polo Championships and Cowdray Park Polo Club, we will be presenting our gorgeous Polo Times Best Playing Pony rugs, to keep that prize winning pony toasty warm, and the exciting The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award bags, stuffed full of goodies including a bottle of Pinkster Gin, a Black Hound Sports gillet, a Tally Ho jacket, dinner for two at PJ’s Bar and Grill and some Sporting Hares sunnies as well as your latest issue of Polo Times and The Polo Magazine. All this to the lucky winners of the prestigious awards in the following tournaments:

 

Guards – The Valerie Halford Memorial Trophy – Last year’s The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award was won by Hissam Ali Hyder

RCBPC – The Prince of Wales Trophy – New to the series this year – The Most Valued Player Award for a set of Carlos Gracida spurs in conjunction with The Polo Magazine 

Guards – The Committee Cup – Last year’s The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award was won by Andrew Dechet

Guards – The Copenhagen Cup

Cowdray – The Dollar Cup

Cowdray – The Duke of Sutherland Cup – Last year’s Polo Times Best Playing Pony rug winner was Vincanta, owned and played by Joaquin Pittaluga

Guards – The Guards La Aguada Kids Trophy

Guards – The Archie David Cup – Last year’s The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award was won by Jack Richardson

Guards – World Horse Welfare Day

Sandbanks – The British Beach Polo Championships – Last year's The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award was won by Ed Morries Lowe

Guards – The Phoenician Cup – Last year’s Polo Times Best Playing Pony rug winner was Gamuzo, owned and played by Daniel Otamendie, who also won The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award

Guards – The Indian Empire Shield – Last year’s Polo Times Best Playing Pony rug winner was Agus, owned and played by Manolo Fernandez Llorente, while Juan Cruz Merlos won The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award

Cowdray – The Harrison Cup – Last year’s Polo Times Best Playing Pony rug winner was Silk, played and owned by Mark Tomlinson, while Alejandro Novillo Astrada won The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award

Cowdray – The Holden White Cup – Last year’s Polo Times Best Playing Pony rug winner was Conejo, owned and played by Jack Richardson who also won The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award

Cowdray – Cowdray Challenge Cup – Last year’s Polo Times Best Playing Pony rug winner was Lily, played by Paco O'Dwyer and owned by Guy Schwarzenbach while Patrick O’Dwyer won The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award

Guards – The Duke of Wellington – Last year’s Polo Times Best Playing Pony rug winner was Model T, owned and played by Pedro Harrison while Vieri Antonori won The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award

Guards – The Guards Ladies Charity Trophy – Last year’s The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award was won by Sophie Granchi

Guards – The Chairman’s Cup– Last year’s Polo Times Best Playing Pony rug winner was Mecha, owned and played by Charley Holley

Guards – The Autumn Nations – Last year’s Polo Times Best Playing Pony rug winner was Norma, owned and played by Peter Webb while Tunde Karim won The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award

Cowdray – The Autumn Cup – Last year’s Polo Times Best Playing Pony rug winner was Snip, owned and by the Lamacrafts and played by Jack Berner who also won The Polo Magazine Most Valuable Player Award

 

It all kicks off Saturday 7 May for the Final of the 12 goal Valerie Halford Memorial Trophy at Guards Polo Club. We’ll keep you posted on this year’s lucky winners and don’t forget to keep an eye on the June issue of The Polo Times for all the information on the Polo Times Best Playing Pony winner in our Pony Power section.
