Winning Start for Headhunters and Mahi-Mahi

Brits Victorious in First Matches of Malaysian Ladies Polo Championships

Headhunters have won their first match against Windhorse in the opening matches of the Malaysian Ladies Polo Championships at the Royal Selangor Polo Club. Despite Windhorse possessing both a 4 goal handicap advantage and the talents of top American player Sunny Hale, Headhunters, featuring Hannah Daniels, Camilla Sugden, Emma Boers and Claire Brougham, ran out the winners by 1½ goals.

Hopes remain high for the English team in this tournament, after a strong season for British ladies' international polo all round. Boers and Brougham are in especially fine form for this Championship, having already taken the South Africa Test Match title last month, as well as an Open de France Feminin accolade for Boers, with the Lowell team in Chantilly. Malaysian one goal and University of London Alumni player, Emily Cheah, joines the team as the reserve.
In Division 1, Mahi-Mahi stormed through their first match against La Familia, winning 6-2½. The team includes three of the other four English players contesting the tournament, not least 7 goal Sarah Wiseman, who is widely regarded as one of the best players on the ladies UK and International circuits. She is joined by one goal players Abigail Slater and Lorna Dodd at number 1 and reserve respectively, and with strong support from Australia's Chloe Kiely and Malaysian player Daryl Yeap, Mahi-Mahi look a strong line-up to beat.

Six goal Annabel McNaught Davis takes up a spot on the unfortunately defeated La Familia team, alongside Argentina's Paola Martinez, at 7 goals. The team lost out to Mahi-Mahi in the first match of the tournament.
