Tue 24th Feb 2015PIPA Snow Polo Championship Tour continuesNext stop in the tour calendar is Bad Gastein, Salzberg
The next event in the diary following England’s success in Seefeld, is Bad Gastein, currently 600 cubic meters of snow are being moved from the Red Bull Playstreet for the tournament this weekend. Christian Adam, VP Marketing with PIPA, spoke to Polo Times about the re-use of the artificial snow, “PIPA very much cares for the ecological footprint of the tour events by reusing already existing artificial snow and scheduling the events in consideration of such infrastructural and environmental aspects”. The tow man teams confirmed for the event at this stage include Deutschland: (Stefan Coszma (2) and Joe Reinhard (2)), England: (Chris Völkers (1) and Tim Ward (5)), Österreich: (Benjamin Darroux (3) and Uwe Seebacher (3)) and Slowakei: (Alexandra Bencokova/ Pavel Ivanyi (1) and Ladislav Agardi (3)). Games will begin on Friday 27 February followed by a social evening with the theme ‘Polo Meets Lederhosen’, games continue on Saturday 28 followed by the ‘Polo meets Belle Époque’ black tie ball. The Finals and Subsidiary Finals will be played for on Sunday 1 March – will England be able to take home a second trophy? However the tour will now not be including Gröeden in the calendar. PIPA President Uwe Seebacher commented, “Gröden was finally taken off the tour as the local organization could not guarantee the fulfillment of our requirements in regard to different aspects. We are now evaluating the options for the 2015 tour final”. The first ponies will arrive on Wednesday 25 February, at Bad Gastein and on Thursday the snow arena will be open for practice chukkas and stick and ball.
