Mon 23rd Feb 2015 Coca-Cola win the Ylvisaker Cup Valiente take the runner up place on the podium at Palm Beach After three weeks of games, Coca-Cola (Gillian Johnston, Sugar Erskine, Julio Arellano and Mason Wroe) have won the Ylvisaker Cup. The Final on Sunday at the International Polo Club, Palm Beach was against Valiente (Bob Jornayvaz, Robert Jornayvaz, Santi Torres and Sapo Caset). The Final score of 14-13 was reached with a nail biting end as both teams were on 13 a piece, but the final minutes of the chukka saw Valiente foul, with the umpires awarding a penalty to Coca-Cola. Arellano took the penalty, but it went wide. Fate gave him a second chance as Valiente, desperately trying to make a dash for a winning goal, fouled again. This time Arellano scored the winning goal with a 30 yard penalty. Dolfina Resta owned by Adolfo Cambiaso and played by Sapo Caset, was named Best Playing Pony. Throughout the game Coca-Cola were never more than two goals ahead at any point. Arellano led the Coca-Cola team to victory with ten goals, including seven penalties, and was awarded the Most Valuable Player. Sugar Erskine, in his trademark red boots and kneepads, added the remaining four goals for the win. Caset scored half of his eight goals on penalty shots alone for Valiente, whilst Torres scored four goals and Robert Jornayvaz scored once. Earlier in the day, Palm Beach Illustrated team (Tommy Collingwood, Jared Zenni, Facundo Obregon and Michel Dorignac) took the George Haas Cup for the Subsidiary Final against Tonkawa (Jeff Hildebrand, Gonzalo Deltour, Inaki Laprida and Jeff Blake) with another close game ending on a final score of 12-11.
