Thu 5th Feb 2015Honk Kong hit the road as Brazil goes through to Semi Finals Argentina, France and the USA also make it through in Tianjin
In the 2015 contest for The FIP Snow Polo World Cup, home team, Hong Kong were eliminated by the Brazilians in the first Quarter Final of the day at the Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club. Hong Kong started the scoring in the opening chukka with Pablo Juaretche and Juan Britos worked together to open the scoring for Hong Kong in the first chukka, before their teammate, John Fisher secured a second with no retaliation by the opposition. However, Brazil came to the party in the second chukka with a penalty converted by Guilherme Lins followed by two goals from Aluisio Vilela Rosa to take them ahead, 3-2 at half-time. John Fisher scored twice from penalties in the first three minutes of the third chukka followed by another goal for Hong Kong by Juan Britos before the Brazilian, Lins managed to claw a goal back to end the chukka 5-4 to Hong Kong. Brazil worked their magic in the final chukka with Lins and Viella Rosa making their marks on the scoreboards, pushing the game into a penalty shoot-out. In such a closely-fought contest, it was Brazil’s accuracy that took secured their position in the Semi Finals. They are now set to play fellow South Americans, Argentina. In the second Quarter Final of the day Argentina (Juan Cruz Gregouli (4), Juan Manuel Echevers (6) and Hector Jacinto Crotto (6)) defeated Chile (Martin Zegers Greene (6), Alejandro Vial (6) and Ignacio Vial Mazieres (4)) with a close call score of 9-8. Today in the second round of Quarter Final games France (Clement Delfosse (5), Patrick Primael Pailliol (4) and Brieuc Rigaux (5)) defeated Canada (Brandon Phillips (5), Marcelo Abbiatti (5) and Robert Stenzel (5)) 8-6, whilst the USA (Delmer Walton (3), Thomas Biddle Jnr (6) and Mike Azzaro (7)) had a convincing win against New Zealand (Glenn Sherriff (5), Kit Brooks (5) and Tom Hunt (6)) with a final score of 9-6.
