Lovelocks Polo Stud win Copa El Remanso

Despite an impressive early lead from La Alegria CentraLab, Lovelocks Polo Stud claimed a 9-6 victory

The Final of The Copa El Remanso 22 goal tournament was played in Lobos, Argentina on Sunday 19 October between Lovelocks Polo Stud (Brad Mallett (4), Manuel Plaza de Ayala (6), Federico Von Potovsky (6) and Manolo Fernandez Llorente (6)) and La Alegria CentraLab (Adrian Laplacette (6), Andres Laplacette (5), Pablo Miguens (5) and Simon Crotto (4)).

As a 20 goal team, La Alegria were given two goals on the scoreboard before the ball was thrown-in and used that to their advantage, holding down the attack of their opposition, Lovelocks whilst Adrian Laplacette slotted through three further field goals to end the first chukka 5-0.
Manuel Plaza de Ayala and Brad Mallett clawed two goals back for Lovelocks in the second, with Plaza de Ayala also converting a spot penalty at the end of the chukka to take the score to 5-3, still in La Alegria’s favour. Von Potovsky took the goal tally to 5-4 in the third, but Simon Crotto scored before the bell to take Alegria’s lead to two goals again. It was a slow fourth chukka with only one goal being scored by Ernesto Fernandez-Llorente who had taken to the pitch to replace an injured Brad Mallett. Von Potovsky levelled the scores for Lovelocks in the fifth and then scorched to the other end of the pitch to take Lovelocks into the lead for the first time in the match, 7-6.
Alegria missed an early chance to draw level at the start of the sixth, which Lovelocks subsequently capitalised on, scoring again to make it 8-6. A good clearance off the line from Plaza de Ayala denied Alegria another opportunity to close the gap, before he then scored straight away at the other end of the pitch to make the final score, 9-6 to Lovelocks Polo Stud.
Most Valuable Player was awarded to Lovelocks’ Federico Von Potovsky whilst Manuel Plaza de Ayala’s Tonina was given the Best Playing Pony prize.
The Subsidiary Final for The Copa La Sonada was won by El Remanso (Charlie Hanbury (5), Ollie Cudmore (5), Will White (2) and Juilo Arellano (8)). They beat El Carmen (Daniel Dartiguelongue (4), Juan Dartiguelongue (6), Luis Gotelli (6) and Gaston Dartiguelongue (5)) 10 goals to 7.
The Club would like to thank Lorgazo Motors for their support of the tournament and Manolo Fernandez Llorente, the Tournament Director.
