Five teams – including four British players – are participating in the 16 goal Jaime Mackay Memorial currently being played for at Windsor Polo Club in New South Wales, Australia. The tournament kicked off on Saturday 4 October with Guy Schwarzenbach’s Garangula featuring Patrick O’Dwyer, Tom Hunt and Jasper White against Stanbroke’s Rob Archibald, Damien Johnston, James Harper and Brendan Menegazzo. Stanbroke gained a narrow victory, 13 goals to 12 over the six-chukka match. The second game of the opening day saw Riverpark (Angus James, Dirk Gould, Kelvin Johnson and Oli Hipwood) lose 9 goals to 10 to Sandalford (Charlie Pidgley, Sam Hopkinson, Max Charlton and Warwick Prendiville). On Monday, Riverpark beat Stanbroke 13 goals to 9, whilst the mighty Garangula beat the lower-handicapped 14 goal Town & Country team (Jeremy Bayard, Ric McCathy, Adam Tolhurst and Kit Brooks) 11 goals to 3. There was just the Sandalford v Town & Country game on Tuesday, which saw Guards players Charlie Pidgley and Max Charlton beat the Town & Country side 12-8. Today’s games at Windsor were close to call with Garangula scraping a 10-9 win over Riverpark, whilst Sandalford lost their first game of the tournament when 6 goaler James Harper helped the Stanbroke team to a 9-7 victory.
