As the arrival of the HPA Green Book is imminent, here are some tournament highlights of the winter season for you to pencil into your diary now. Full listings of tournaments will be available in each issue of Polo Times. The high goal kicks off at the Royal County of Berkshire Polo Club with The Paul Castle High Goal Challenge (13-15 goal) on 28-30 November followed by The HPA Christmas National Club Championships (13-15 and 4-6 goal) from 1-14 December. The HPA New Year National Club Championships, will run from 5-24 January with The Arena Gold Cup – the pinnacle of the arena season – starting on 13 February and the Final scheduled for 28 February. There are three ladies tournament of note spaced out across the season with the first up at Maywood Polo on 25 October with a handicap limit of 2 goals. The All England Polo Club, Hickstead is holding The Porto Polo Ladies Tournament on 20-21 December, which is open to all handicaps. The final ladies tournament of the season is The National Women’s Polo Tournament at Ascot Park Polo Club currently scheduled for the weekend of the 7-8 March. International games include a series of invitational matches at Wicklow Polo starting with Spain (Barcelona) playing Ireland, 7-8 February followed by France (Deauville) on the weekend 7-8 March and finally USA (Yale University) on the weekend of 4-5 April. The All England Polo Club, Hickstead will once again be holding The Bryan Morrison International Trophy Test Match on the 7 March, which last year saw England lose to an American team of Tommy Biddle, Patrick Uretz and Will Tankard. SUPA University Nationals will be held from 12-15 February whilst The SUPA National Senior Schools will follow on 8 March with both tournaments being hosted by Rugby Polo Club.
