Fri 12th Sep 2014Argentine season starts with more rule changesThe Argentine Polo Association has made further revisions to their rule changes despite the season having already started.
The Argentine Polo Association (AAP) issued the changes on Thursday 11th September on their website. From this statement it looks like the majority of the previous changes are ‘on hold’. The rules that have been implemented with immediate affect are: 1.The throw-in will consist of all eight (8) players (not the previously proposed four players). 2. For the throw-in, the teams will be separated by one meter with stripes on the ground at the center of the field. 3. On penalty shots, the player shooting a foul, when preparing to take the shot, must stay within 50 yards of the ball. 4. When play resumes, following a foul or a knock-in, the striking player may not take any longer than 15 seconds to put the ball into play after the umpire signals the order to play. The penalty for violating this rule by the striking team will result in a throw-in at the spot of the foul. Photograph: Argentina playing England in the Coronation Cup By Tony Ramirez Images of Polo |
