In their debut season playing at Santa Maria Polo Club in Sotogrande, Bob Jornayvaz’s Valiente added The Silver Cup to their already successful August campaign. Valiente, featuring two young pros, Santi Laborde and the impressive Santi Torres, beat Ellerston last week to gain their place in Friday’s Final. There they met Dos Lunas who had played a tough Semi Final against Ayala, narrowly beating them 16 goals to 15 and were widely regarded as the underdogs. However, the Dos Lunas team played a great Final on the Los Pinos grounds, working hard to contain the 10 goal Cambiaso. They proved to be a tough opponent and at half time the scores were tied at 6 goals apiece. Sadly for the Dos Lunas supporters, the might of Cambiaso and ‘one to watch’ Torres proved too much and Valiente rode off the pitch, winning The Silver Cup 13 goals to 10. Prior to the Final, King Power won the Subsidiary for the Tio Pepe Cup, beating Las Monjitas 10 goals to 9. Photograph: Valiente win The Silver Cup at Santa Maria Polo Club in Sotogrande.
