Tue 12th Mar 2013Habtoor and Ghantoot to play for Dubai Gold Cup Gold Cup action concludes at Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club on Friday
HABTOOR WILL TAKE on Ghantoot in the final of the 16-goal Dubai Gold Cup on Friday (15 March).
The Habtoor team of patron Mohammed Al Habtoor, Ignacio Bello, Guillermo Cuitino and Ezeuiel Martinez Ferrario narrowly defeated Abu Dhabi 8-6 in the first semi-final yesterday. Abu Dhabi took an early lead, but weren't able to hold on to it, as Habtoor took the lead in the third chukka. Habtoor will now be hoping for a double success, having lifted the Dubai Silver Cup last month.
Ghantoot – patron Ali Al Merri Juan Zubiaurre, Facundo Sola and Pelayo Berazadi – controlled their match against Bin Drai from the outset, winning 9-5 to claim the second spot in Friday's final at Dubai Polo & Equestrian Club.
Six teams contested the Dubai Silver and Gold Cups. Abu Dhabi will play Bin Drai in the Gold Cup subsidiary final, which will also be held on Friday.
